I really like this vet office but as an established client I have never been able to get a same day appt and its very frustrating. I tried making one today and the next available appt is in 6 days. My dog is sick, its not right. Going back to Brighton bc they have always had same day appts available its just a further drive.
A little over a week ago, after 15 years together, we had to say goodbye to our sweet boy, Deogee.
He wasn't just a dog to us. He was our family. He was there through moves, milestones, celebrations, hard days, lazy Sundays on the couch, and everything in between. He was our shadow, our best friend, and in so many ways, he felt more like our child than our pet. Losing him has been one of the hardest things we've ever gone through.
We had made the heartbreaking decision to help him cross the rainbow bridge and had scheduled it for Tuesday. But over that weekend, his condition declined so quickly. Watching him become unable to get up, have accidents, and slowly become a shell of himself in just a matter of days was devastating. By Monday morning, we knew we couldn't ask him to keep fighting for one more day just for us.
We called everywhere trying to find someone who could help us that day, but no one had availability.
Then we called Foxbank Veterinary Hospital.
Even though we had never been clients there and had never stepped foot in their office before, they made room for us. That kindness alone meant more to us than they will probably ever know.
I was so anxious bringing Deogee in because he had always gotten nervous at the vet. It absolutely broke my heart to think that after spending 15 years loving him and protecting him, his final moments might be spent scared or stressed in a veterinary office instead of peacefully at home.
Instead, we were greeted at the door and brought into a quiet, peaceful room away from the noise and activity of the clinic. There was no rushing us. No coldness. No feeling like we were just another appointment on the schedule. Our sweet boy was treated with dignity, gentleness, and so much respect.
The staff helped carry us through one of the worst moments of our lives with grace and kindness. They gave us time to hold him, cry with him, tell him how loved he was, and say goodbye to a member of our family.
There are moments in life that you never forget, and this will always be one of them.
Nothing was going to make that day okay. Nothing was going to make losing Deogee hurt less. But Foxbank Veterinary Hospital gave our sweet boy the peaceful goodbye he deserved, and they gave us a gift that we can never repay: the comfort of knowing that in his final moments, he was surrounded by kindness, respect, and love.
For that, we will be grateful for the rest of our lives. Thank you for helping us carry the weight of saying goodbye to our boy. We will never forget your kindness.
